Mr. John E. Bell III, Executive Director, Loan Guaranty Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, is responsible for delivering VA home loan benefits to his fellow Veterans. He oversees over 900 Loan Guaranty personnel nationwide. Following a successful career in the mortgage industry, John began his VA career in 2010. Under his leadership, home loan volume has increased 600%, with a record-breaking 1.44 million Veterans closing on VA-guaranteed loans in the Fiscal Year 2021. VA’s share of the mortgage market has grown, with no increase in staffing until this year.
John’s industry experience has influenced Loan Guaranty’s transformation to better align with the fast-paced mortgage industry. Jason Latona has served as the Chief for Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) at the Department of Veterans Affairs since May 2018. Specifically, he works to assist eligible Veterans and Service members in accessing the housing adaptation grants that they have earned to live more safely and independently.
As Chief for Specially Adapted Housing, Jason is responsible for program policy for the SAH program. In addition, he works to assist Veterans and Service members using the SAH benefit, including collaborating with other VA programs, Veteran Service Organizations, and industry partners.
The SAH policy team conducts outreach to spread awareness of the SAH grant programs. He is a former active-duty U.S. Marine with over 20 years of experience in the residential remodeling/home building and business management consulting industries.
